STATEMENT Jason Thrasher Photography (706) 380-7778
I have been photographing for nearly twenty years. In that time I have traveled the world and photographed people from all walks of life. I have been presented with moments of beauty amongst all the trials and tribulations of life. It is these moments that drive me as an artist. The simple beauty of human touch, a glance across a room, old friends embracing, the first dance, a stolen kiss, the way light defines the texture of our skin: these are the moments that define our lives. It is in these moments that friendships are formed, love becomes realized and our lives unfold.
To capture these moments in a photograph has been my lifelong goal. As a photographer who also photographs weddings , this is my greatest strength. I am not a typical wedding photographer. I am an artist and a photographer who has the ability to get into the moment and create a series of photographs that will tell the story of your magical day. Every opportunity I have had to photograph a wedding has turned into a personal experience for me. In the few days I get to spend with a couple, I am allowed into their world and into their family for one of the most important times of their lives. During the wedding weekend, I become part of the family for a short while. I feel their happiness, their joy, their excitement and their love. My greatest wish is to convey these feelings into treasures of a lifetime: photographs of your unique and very special wedding day which will be enjoyed for generations to come.
I received my BFA in Fine Art Photography from the University of Georgia, Lamar Dodd School of Fine Art, and my fine art photography has been shown in galleries and museums across the country, including: one-man shows at Mercury Art Works and the Arrow Gallery in Athens, group shows at the Yerba Buena Arts Center in San Francisco, the Bare Hands Gallery in Birmingham, the Telfair Museum of Art in Savannah, and at the Atlanta Contemporary Gallery, the Fay Gold Gallery and the Atlanta Photography Gallery in Atlanta. In 2004, my work was featured in a national group show at Athica, two of my photographs were chosen for the permanent collection of the Ogden Museum of Southern Art in New Orleans, and my work was featured in Art Papers magazine, a national fine art publication.
Each wedding I photograph creates an opportunity for a unique work of art. Years of artistic practice are brought together with expert technical photographic skills at your once-in-a-lifetime event to produce a personal body of work about your wedding day. Choose from Documentary, Standard or Deluxe / Film, or Digital / Photography Packages. I will create a custom package that works within your budget and to suit your specific needs. Specialties include: formal portraiture, both on location and in the studio; documentary-style wedding day coverage, which allows me to be both everywhere and invisible at the same time in order to catch the best moments on film without getting in the way of you and your guests; and museum-quality, archival, photo-retouched enlargements suitable for framing. I work with a full range of professional lighting equipment, cameras and film stocks to create the look and feel that you desire. Ask about our custom wedding albums and DVDs.
